You are invited to help the
protect land in Hull, MA, including along the Weir River Estuary

Get to know the Estuary!  Join us on an upcoming walk or a fun-raising event

Thank you for a major step accomplished!   The Chatham Street entrance to the Weir River Woods is now protected by a Conservation Restriction (CR) jointly held by The Trustees of Reservations (TTOR) and the Hull Conservation Commission!  So far we have raised approximately $238,000 and are down to $42,000 left to go to completely pay for the entrance and its acquisition expenses.

The remaining expenses include $4,000 owed to The Trustees of Reservations who have used the MA Conservation Partnership Grant, your donations, and their revolving fund to pay off the mortgage, $10,000 for an endowment for TTOR to monitor the Conservation Restriction and $28,000 for the remaining private loan used to purchase the property.

1. Please send your donation by check or with credit info to "HLCT," PO Box 1081, Hull, MA 02045.  Or call 781-925-5665 to donate by phone.  Show your colors as a caring member of the Nantasket Nation with a collectors' item one-time edition "Weir River Woods, A Woods for HulI: A Woods for All" decal.  We suggest a donation of at least $27, but we are happy to send a decal as a thank you for whatever you can afford.  If 800 people donate an average of $50, we finish paying for the entrance.   Thank you!

Thank you!!!

2. Invite your family and friends to be on Your Team. Set a goal, such as $250 (or a sum of your choice).  6th graders Kiernan and Aiden Leahy asked their friends for donations as their birthday presents and raised $250. The Willis family donated over $400 to honor Veneta Willis on her 101st birthday. Lanny Day made our day with his birthday party presents last summer.  Be inventive!  AJ Culinary of Cambridge and Hull has donated about 550 cookies that have raised $1100 and Ernie Lavoie of Hull Village has donated heirloom tomato plants that have raised several hundred dollars each year.  Sharon Fisher hosted friends for refreshments during the Secret Garden Tour last summer and asked for donations.  Last December Hull Wolf Den B earned money, through a bake sale and cleaning up yards, that was matched by parents and grandparents.  Thank you!

Thank you to 1) The Trustees of Reservations for partnering with HLCT in obtaining and carrying out the MA Conservation Partnership challenge grant, 2) the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Division of Conservation Services that awarded this $75,563 grant, 3) the Hull Conservation Administrator for finding the grant source, 4) the Hull Selectmen and Conservation Commission for voting to jointly hold the CR with TTOR,  5) the Conservation Commission for its Weir River Woods Access Study which provided the basis for the state grant application, 6) the Fields Pond Foundation for its $8,000 grant, 7) the Sheehan Family Foundation for its $25,000 grant and 8) the many people who have made donations from small to big that have added up to over $100,000 so far.

The Hull Land Conservation Trust is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.  Its EIN is #02-0800781.
